Important

Telehealth location requirement: Services are available only to patients physically located in Kansas at the time of the visit.

What is Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC?

Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC is a telehealth-only direct primary care clinic for adults. Instead of billing insurance, the practice is designed around a membership model with a predictable monthly fee for non-emergency primary care delivered via secure video or phone, when clinically appropriate.

Is Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC an insurance plan?

No. Membership is not health insurance and does not replace insurance coverage. Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC does not submit claims to insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. Membership fees cover access to Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC services only. You remain responsible for costs related to medications, labs, imaging, emergency care, or specialist visits.

Who is eligible for care?

Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC is designed for adults who:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Can confirm they are physically located in Kansas at the time of each telehealth visit
  • Are comfortable using telehealth as their primary way of seeing a provider
  • Have non-emergency needs that can be safely managed through telehealth (as clinically appropriate)

Location is confirmed prior to visits. If you are outside Kansas at the time of your appointment, your visit will be rescheduled.

What does membership include?

Membership is designed to include access to:

  • Telehealth visits for non-emergency concerns (as clinically appropriate)
  • Secure messaging for questions and follow-up
  • Annual wellness planning and preventive care counseling
  • Chronic disease and medication management
  • Care coordination and ordering of labs at outside facilities

Membership fees cover access to care, not the cost of medications, labs, imaging, or specialist services.

Does Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC offer gender-affirming care, including GAHT?

Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC is designed to offer gender-affirming primary care services, which may include GAHT-related care for eligible patients when clinically appropriate. All care is individualized. Medication and lab costs are billed separately through pharmacies and labs, not by Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC.

Does Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC prescribe controlled substances?

Controlled substances are prescribed only when clinically appropriate and in compliance with Kansas and federal prescribing laws. Some controlled substances may be restricted via telehealth, may require additional documentation, or may require in-person evaluation or referral. Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC will not prescribe any controlled substance when doing so would violate legal requirements or clinical safety standards.

A Controlled Substance & Medication Safety Policy is provided during onboarding.

How are labs and imaging handled?

When labs or imaging are needed, Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC places orders at external facilities such as commercial laboratories or imaging centers. Those facilities bill you (or your insurance, if you choose to use it) directly. Results are sent back for review and follow-up with Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC.

What should I do in an emergency?

Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC is not an emergency or urgent care service. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, major injury, severe allergic reaction, suicidal or homicidal thoughts, or any condition that feels like an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.

Details are outlined in the Non-Emergency Safety Disclosure provided during onboarding.

How are appointments scheduled?

Scheduling workflows will be provided when the practice opens to new patients. Members will schedule telehealth visits through the clinic’s online system.
Changes or cancellations will follow the timelines described in the Membership Agreement.

How do payments work?

Membership fees are generally billed monthly to the payment method on file. A one-time new patient intake fee may apply. Exact terms and timing are outlined in the Financial Consent and Membership Agreement provided during onboarding.

Can I cancel membership?

Yes. Cancellation terms are described in the Membership Agreement. In some situations, limited transitional support may be provided when clinically appropriate to ensure safe continuity of care. Re-enrollment may be required if membership lapses.

How do I get started?

Barnes Direct Primary Care LLC is not accepting new patients at this time. When enrollment opens, this page will be updated with the official enrollment process and next steps.
